How do I Donate Clothes to Battered Women in Connecticut?

From battered women's shelter to churches, there are several options available for donating clothes to women who have been victims of domestic violence. These groups are often looking for new or gently used clothing for women who are in shelters until they can get on their feet.

Collect Clothes

Women in shelters need dresses, jeans, work clothes and clothes for a night out on the town. Donate children's clothes, because many women who are in battered women's shelters have children. Size does not matter.

Make Contacts

Contact a shelter like the Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven and Domestic Violence Services Inc. Call the shelter, and ask to speak with someone who manages donations. Express your desire to donate and you can make arrangements to drop off your donation or have it picked up.

Continue to donate because many domestic violence victims escape with only a small suitcase or just the clothes on their backs. Domestic violence is a prevalent problem. Approximately 1.3 million women a year are physically assaulted by a significant other.
