SCORM Training
As of December 2010, many customers of on-line training insist on enrolling only in SCORM-compliant courses. Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) allows for efficient and effective on-line training. Anyone engaged in creating, launching and tracking web-based courses would benefit from SCORM training.
-
Purpose
-
The purpose of SCORM is to enable reusable, easily accessible, dependable and shareable content. When this is achieved, organizations can reduce the cost of developing and delivering training over a period of time. Once training content becomes SCORM compliant, an organization can use the content in different iterations and combinations based on the needs of individual employees.
Audience
-
Instructional Designers and content authors can benefit from SCORM training. Becoming SCORM proficient has value for managers, content authors, developers and instructional designers of web-based courses. Training department personnel in private industry, government and academic communities should pursue SCORM training.
-
Scope
-
At the core of any SCORM training is learning how to create courses that conform with SCORM standards. This includes an understanding of SCORM concepts and terminology, specifications and implementation techniques. A thorough program of study should also include instructions on packaging courses utilizing the SCORM manifest file, which is necessary to deliver courses via learning management systems (LMSs).
