Weeping Mulberry Tree Information
Weeping white mulberries (Morus alba) are fast-growing specimen trees suitable for smaller landscapes. White flowers cover the trees in spring and are the main ornamental feature of these plants, as they are fruitless and have no appreciable fall color. Does this Spark an idea?

Size
-
The Pendula variety of weeping white mulberry reaches 20 feet high and wide. A smaller cultivar, Chaparral, has a 4- to 5-foot-tall trunk with the pendulous form of white mulberry grafted on top, giving the tree a decidedly umbrellalike appearance.
Cultural Requirements
-
Weeping white mulberries are hardy throughout U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 4 to 8. These trees are very adaptable, growing well in sun or light shade. They grow well in many soil conditions but perform best in moist, well-drained soil. They are also tolerant of urban conditions and will grow well near the ocean.

Precautions
-
Mulberries have brittle wood, so they are prone to damage in high winds. They are also subject to fungal diseases and pests, especially in hot, humid conditions. The University of California recommends planting mulberries at least six feet away from sidewalks, foundations and driveways as the strong surface roots can damage concrete.
