Pros

Cons

If you don't wash your shopping bags regularly, bacterial growth may increase your chances of contracting a foodborne illness. Some bags may require hand washing, which is a time-consuming process. In addition, manufacturing reusable bags uses resources, and reusable bags that wear out quickly also take up space in landfills.

Safety

Wrap meat in plastic bags before placing it in reusable shopping bags. Bag meat separately from other groceries. Clean bags immediately if you notice any leaks. Clean bags regularly according to label instructions and make sure they dry completely before you store them.
