Learn how to fix common Ricoh color copier service problems.

If your Ricoh color copier is malfunctioning, look for a few common service problems before calling the repairman. You may be able to fix the issue yourself and save valuable time and money. Consult your copier's owner's manual for additional troubleshooting tips pertaining to your model number.

  1. Basics

    • Make sure the copier is plugged in, the red power switch is turned on. Fill the paper tray if it is low. Replace the toner cartridge if your copies are too light or streaky.

    Paper Jams

    • Most modern Ricoh copiers show the general area of the paper jam on the display screen. Open the copier's front panel and follow the path of the paper from the tray to the exit area to look for jammed sheets of paper. Be careful not to tear the sheet when removing it as this can leave small pieces of paper still jammed inside the copier.

    Blank Copies

    • If your Ricoh copier produces completely blank copies, call a technician to replace the laser diode unit.

    Color Issues

    • Run the auto color-calibration utility from the "User Tools" menu if the copier produces copies with different colors than the original. If the colors do not align or the output looks blurry, run the auto color-registration utility.
