Online Tools

Google Maps is an easy way to route a trip online. The service is free, and trips may be saved for future reference. Use Google to route your trip by entering your starting point into the location box, then clicking the "Get Directions" link on the left. AAA's TripTik planner is another popular online tool. Enter your destination, then choose "Get Directions" to begin routing.
Stand-Alone Tool
-
Microsoft Streets & Trips is an easy-to-use, reliable software you can install on your computer. It works similarly to the online tools, and trips may be saved for later use.

Mobile Applications
-
Several tools are available for mobile phones. TripIt is a free tool that saves your itinerary information online and allows you to access it from your phone. It includes maps, addresses and booking information. Google also has routing software for phones that is based on the Google Maps service.
