Java Error on Vista 64
Nearly all computers have Java installed, and Java is frequently used in Web browsers. Any errors with Java can be especially frustrating, since they may affect your ability to use the Internet or view certain websites.
-
Outdated Version
-
Outdated versions of Java may encounter errors that newer versions correct. You can download newer versions at the Java website (see Resources).
32-bit or 64-bit Version
-
Internet Explorer can run in 32-bit or 64-bit in Vista 64-bit, and if you attempt to install the wrong version of Java, you'll encounter errors. You need to download and install the Java version for the version of Internet Explorer you're using.

Windows Not Updated
-
When Windows is not properly updated, many types of errors can occur in Java or other software. You can check for updates in the "Windows Update" section of the "Control Panel."
Corrupted Files
-
Sometimes a virus or even a bad shutdown can corrupt files on your computer, including files used for Java. This error type is difficult to diagnose and usually requires a complete reinstallation.
Error Numbers
-
Some errors have obscure or difficult-to-diagnose causes. If Java displays an error number, check that number at Java Fixer (see Resources).
