Bird Food Decorations
Bird food decorations offer a unique way to feed wild birds while decorating for the holidays. Decorations can consist of bird seed, suet, peanut butter, nuts or fruit, similar to what birds naturally eat when food sources are available. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Types
-
You can cover pinecones with peanut butter or suet, then dip them in bird seed and hang them from a tree. Wreaths or garlands made of birdseed and nuts also work well, especially in winter when food is scarce. Add a big red or green bow for an edible holiday decoration.
Requirements
-
The decorations must make it easy for birds to access the food. Keep in mind what birds you want to attract, then use the type of foods they like to eat. If you use nylon string to hang your decorations, make sure you cut off excess string so birds don't get tangled in it.

Benefits
-
When seeds, fruits and insects become scarce, the decorations offer a valuable food source. You'll also be able to see the birds up close when you place the decoration in a safe place relatively close to your viewing area.
