Choose a bed that's the right size for you.

It is important to choose a bed with the proper dimensions to attain a comfortable sleeping situation, be it alone or with a significant other. Double and queen beds fit most rooms easily, but have slightly different sizes ideal for different scenarios. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Queen

    • A queen-sized bed is longer and wider than a double bed, measuring 60 by 80 inches. Queen beds sleep two people comfortably, giving each individual 30 inches of sleeping room. The bed also fits people of average height, with a length of 6 1/2 feet.

    Double

    • At 53 by 75 inches, a double bed's dimensions measure several inches less than a queen's on both ends. The double bed can sleep two people simultaneously -- but it may be cramped, especially for larger individuals. The bed gives each person just over 2 feet of space. Also, your feet may hang off the end of the bed, with a double measuring 6 feet 3 inches lengthwise. This makes the bed ideal for singles.

    Double XL

    • A double XL bed has the same width as a normal double, but measures 80 inches in length, making it ideal for taller individuals.
