Proper Business Envelopes
Business envelopes come in a range of sizes. The ones most commonly used in mailing professional documents and letters are the letter No. 10 size, No. 9 size, and window and large business envelopes.

No. 10 Envelope
-
The No. 10 size envelope, or "legal envelope," is a regular envelope with a closed face and no window. This type of envelope requires an address to be printed, labeled or typed to its recipient. A window envelope has a small plastic window that allows a recipient's address to show through from inside, eliminating labels and typing. Both style of envelopes are commonly used for businesses to mail letters, bills, invoices, checks and other mailings.
No. 9 Envelope
-
The No. 9 regular envelope (3-7/8 inch by 8-7/8 inch) is commonly used as a reply envelope that can be sent with a No. 10 envelope for recipients to mail something back in. These envelopes are common for party RSVPs, information requests and bill payments.

Clasp Envelopes
-
The clasp envelope is a rough, heavy-duty, large envelope. It has metal clasps and heavily gummed folds. It provides a secure and sturdy closure to safeguard the contents from falling out. These envelopes come in many sizes and are great for sending catalogs, legal documents and business letters.
