Ford offered many exterior colors for its 1976 models.

Ford offered a full line of models in 1976, like the Thunderbird, Falcon, Fairlane, Mustang and Maverick. Information about the factory condition of these cars, including the original exterior paint color, is available in a label included in each car.

  1. Vehicle Certification Label

    • Ford included a vehicle certification label on each car. The label can be found on the rear face of the driver's door. It contains the vehicle identification number (VIN), body type, exterior color, trim package, axle code and transmission type.

    Color Code

    • The color code is in third box. It consists of a number (1 through 7 and 9) and a letter (C, G, H, M, B, R, S, T, V, O, U, E or P).

    Colors Available

    • Ford offered many colors in 1976. The single exterior colors offered were shades of black, silver, red, white, bronze, tan, blue, gray, green, yellow and gold. Two two-tone combinations were offered. They were green/bronze and yellow/green.
