Arizona has specific tail light laws that must be followed.

Arizona state law has certain specifications for tail lights on motor vehicles. A non-moving violation might be the result when the laws are not followed. Non-moving violation penalties could be reduced if the offense is corrected.

  1. Display

    • In Ariziona, a vehicle must have at least one rear-mounted tail light of which the red light is visible from at least 500 feet. The light must not be tinted any other color.

    Position

    • As stated in Section 28-923, Subsection B of the Arizona State Legislature, the position of a vehicle's tail lamp should not be higher than 72 inches and not less than 15 inches.

    Pairing

    • Tail lamps can be wired together with a separate lamp for the license plate as long as the tail lamp is functioning whenever the head lamps or driving lamps are lit.
