Location of Adjustment Screws
-
The adjustment screws are on the front of the carburetor. They are located just below the "Edelbrock" logos stamped on the carburetor.
Adjustment Technique
-
With the engine running at idle, turn one of the screws clockwise and counterclockwise to find which direction increases idle speed. Turn that screw until it is wide open. Turn the other screw in the opposite direction until it closes.
-
Setting Idle Speed
-
Turn the closed screw out for five half turns. Close the other then turn it out five half turns. Ensure they are synchronized. By trial and error, turn each screw in or out a half turn at a time until you the idle speed that sounds the smoothest.
Fun Fact
-
Most modern cars use fuel injection systems instead of carburetors. Carburetors are found mainly on older, classic and restored cars.
