Life Code Safety Training

The National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA, offers its NFPA 101: Life Safety Code 3-day training seminar to people interested in safeguarding buildings and their occupants. The workshop discusses the minimum building code requirements to ensure the occupants' safety from fire, smoke and toxic fumes.

  1. Background

    • According to NFPA, its training seminar is used in every U.S. state and is federally recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.

    Course Overview

    • During training, you will learn the fire safety code requirements for new, old and refurbished buildings. Egress, or emergency exit, training is also covered, including how much lighting is needed at an egress area and how many emergency exits a building should have per its size. Other topics include calculating the building's occupancy load and fire safety code requirements for doors, stairs and ramps.

    Target Audience

    • Anyone who is associated with life safety compliance would benefit from this training. Examples include facility managers, inspectors, engineers and architects.

    On-Site Training

    • NFPA also offers on-site training at your facility for 10 or more employees. On-site seminars are tailored specifically to train for your facility's needs. Employees will learn how to handle installation and maintenance of equipment you use at your location.
