What Is Dual Xeon?

Xeon is a computer processing chip manufactured by Intel. In a dual Xeon configuration, two of these computer chips work together to further the performance of a computer system.

  1. Function

    • The two Xeon processing chips are used in large computer workstations, normally built for large business data flow and organization. They work well with server applications, from small to large rack types, and intricate automating equipment.

    Significance

    • Dual Xeon processors are normally housed in bulky workstation bodies because of their natural tendency to generate heat. The data flow abilities of these extremely fast processors generate heat that must be diverted from the system's body shell; otherwise it can damage the components.

    Considerations

    • Variations within the Xeon processor family allow individuals or companies to choose a Xeon computer that fits their needs. Different model types, such as 5600 or C3500, within the Xeon family are designed for specific business niches, applying various processing techniques to achieve the processing goal of the customer.
