Denture Care & Maintenance

Dentures require regular care. Like teeth, they need to be cleaned. Over time, it may be necessary to adjust them and in case of damage, they should be repaired professionally.

  1. Brushing

    • Daily brushing removes food debris. A denture brush, toothbrush or nailbrush with a denture toothpaste or cream, dishwashing soap or hand soap can be used, followed by a good rinse. Combining hand brushing and cleaning with an ultrasonic false teeth or jewelry cleaner can do a better job.

    Chemical Cleansing

    • Chemical cleansers disinfect dentures. This is necessary after debris is removed to remove microbes and prevent dentures from drying out. Soaking them in a cleansing solution overnight will disinfect them.

    Other Facts

    • Dentures are delicate and breakable and must be handled with care. They can loosen, chip, break or become damaged. Any adjustment or repair is a professional job that should not be attempted at home.
