Vapor barriers prevent the passage of water and moisture laden air from passing from one point to another. Vapor barriers under your mobile home can help prevent moisture damage to the wood and metal supports under your mobile home. There are several thoughts on moisture barrier installation. One suggests placing the moisture barrier directly on the ground. However, attaching a moisture barrier directly to the bottom of your mobile home and is common.
Step 1
Unroll the vapor barrier material. Crawl under your mobile home by entering through the skirting. Staple the vapor barrier material to the wood floor joists of your mobile home with a staple gun. Pull the barrier tight to prevent air leaks. If your home has already been insulated and you can't see the floor joists, look for the places where the insulation has been stapled or nailed to the underside of the home. Staple or nail your vapor barrier nearby.

Step 2
Cut the barrier when you get to the opposite side of your home. Begin running another barrier section along side the first section. Overlap the barriers by an inch or so.
Step 3
Continue this until you have covered the underside of your home with vapor barrier.
Step 4
Seal the overlapping edges with duct tape to prevent air passage.
Step 5
Cover the staple holes with duct tape.
Step 6
Seal the outside edges where the barrier meets the outside of the house with duct tape.
