Benefits
-
There are several benefits to growing a miniature herb garden, including convenience. If you cook often and want to include fresh herbs in your soups and sauces, a miniature garden in your kitchen will make those ingredients readily accessible. Miniature herb gardens also provide gardening practice, and they are ideal if you want to garden but have no available space for an outdoor garden.
Types
-
A number of different herbs will grow well in a miniature garden, especially if you're growing indoors. Chives, for example, are used in many recipes, sweet violet offers color and fragrance, and peppermint may be used for various purposes, including tea.

Considerations
-
Herbs in a miniature garden require the same attention as those in a larger, outdoor garden. Most herbs require lots of water and soil that drains well. A location near a sunny window will serve the garden well. The purchase of an herb-growing kit may be helpful---especially if you are new to gardening---to ensure you have everything you need to tend to your herbs.
