Skype Error: Internet Required

Skype allows you to use your computer to make telephone and video calls.

Skype is a program that lets you make phone and video calls, as well as send instant messages, over the Internet. Skype cannot work if your computer is not hooked up to the Internet.

Wired Connection

Check to make sure that all of your Internet wires are properly connected. Check the cables between the modem and the computer, the telephone wire between the modem and the wall, and any cables that run to your router. A loose wire can cause an Internet connection to fail.

Wireless Network

If you access your Internet connection through a wireless network, make sure that your computer is getting a signal from the router. You may need to reset both the router and the connection to the remote computer.

Reinstall Skype

If your Internet connection is working, but you are still getting an "Internet required" error, delete Skype from your computer and reinstall it. Download another copt of the free Skype program if needed.
