Can the Flower Cineraria Start a New Plant From a Leaf Cutting?

Cineraria plants produce attractive flowers and will root from cuttings.

Cineraria refers to a number of ornamental flowering plants in the Senecio genus. Most are referred to simply as cinerarias, but they may also be called by their species names. Cineraria can be propagated from seed or from cuttings.

Cuttings

Leaf cuttings should be taken in spring, summer or autumn, but never in winter. For best results, dip the cut ends into rooting hormone powder and plant in aerated bark/polystyrene medium. Cuttings will also root if kept moist in a cool spot.

Seed

Cinerarias may be grown from seed in spring and early summer or in autumn in warm climates. They grow readily and require little care beyond sowing the seed in well drained soil and a sunny location.

Runners

These plants also produce rooted runners, which may be used to produce new plants. Remove rooted runners from an established plant and transplant into well drained soil or growing medium. The plant should grow readily.
