Electric RC Gliders for Beginners

Electric RC Gliders for Beginners thumbnail
An RC glider is a simple plane to fly.

Remote-controlled (RC) gliders are great for beginners. They are easy to fly and simple to control. Many RC gliders are so small that they can be flown anywhere, not just at an official RC field.

  1. Features

    • Electric RC gliders do not have landing gear. They must be launched, either by hand or by slingshot. When it's time for landing, they just glide onto the ground. As they do not use fuel, they are powered by rechargeable batteries. All that you need to fly an RC glider is the battery and a radio.

    Size

    • Electric gliders come in all sizes. Park fliers are small, usually with a wingspan of less than 12 inches. They can be flown anywhere, from a backyard to a park, hence the name park flier. These are best for beginners, because a costly club membership isn't necessary. Some gliders can have up to an 8-foot wingspan, but these aren't recommended for beginners because they are tougher to fly.

    Benefits

    • Because of the simplicity of their design, RC gliders are easy to fly. They don't require fuel, so you won't need to carry around a container of fuel and a refueling station. Many of them come pre-assembled, and all that you need to do is attach the wings to the fuselage.
