6G pipe welding certification tests the welder's ability to weld in all possible positions. Although obtaining 6G certification will qualify you to weld in all positions, it is recommended that you first work on the basics before rushing to complete 6G certification.

Welding certifications are categorized according to the position the welder must be in to complete the job. 6G welding is done on a pipe that stands at a 45-degree angle and is fixed, so the welder cannot move it. This requires the use of a variety of welding positions.

However, since each certification provider has its own welding standards, the best approach is to study the standards provided by one particular organization, and then attempt certification with that organization.
