    • Earth911's website claim that 56 percent of plastic waste is packaging-related. Around 75 percent of this waste comes from residential households.

    • Greenbottle's website states discarded plastic packaging can take up to 500 years to decompose. Reuseit's website states plastic bags, bottles and other plastic packaging is the most prevalent pollution found on our beaches. Recycling-Revolution's website claims the plastic packaging thrown into the ocean is killing up to one million sea creatures every year.

    • Recycling plastic packaging can eliminate its negative impact on the environment. According to Earth911's website, by recycling plastic packaging, we can decrease pollution and greenhouse gases, as well as conserve energy and natural resources. According to Reuseit.com, more and more people are recycling plastic packaging, with the amount of discarded plastic PET bottles falling from 2,140,000 tons in 2007 to 1,950,000 tons in 2008.
