Spindle cell hemangioma is a vascular tumor or lesion that is most commonly found in the extremities, most often in the hands. Spindle cell hemangioma is believed to be caused by a malformation in the veins or another abnormality that affects blood flow to the area where the lesion develops. Spindle cell hemangioma can be related to a variety of syndromes and may also precede varicose veins.

Spindle cell hemangiomas do not cause many symptoms aside from the lesions themselves. These lesions are firm to the touch. At first, just one lesion may develop, but after time, more lesions can develop and grow.

Spindle cell hemangiomas are benign and can be safely treated with surgical removal. However, if the entire spindle cell hemangioma is not removed, it may grow back, in which case it would have to be removed again.
