What Is Skype SMS?

Texting, or SMS messaging, is a quick and easy way to communicate short messages. The costs are minimal, and the message transmits almost instantaneously. The Skype program can transmit voice and video calls, as well as SMS messages, over the Internet.

    • Skype SMS allows you to send SMS texts from a computer to a cell phone. You can also send SMS texts from a cell phone running Skype Mobile.

    Charges

    • Although Skype calls between Skype accounts are free, the service charges you to send SMS messages to a cell phone. The rates vary depending on the location of the phone being texted. Skype rates are competitive with most texting plans from wireless carriers.
