How to Compare 37 Inch TVs
When comparing 37 inch TVs, the type of TV, number of inputs it has, and the finish of the screen are three of the most important components to consider before making a purchase.
-
Types
-
There are no 37 inch plasma TVs, so you'll most likely be choosing between LCD or LED TVs. According to Cnet writer David Katzmaier, LED TVs are thinner and more energy efficent, but LCD TVs cost less with hardly a noticeable drop in picture quality.
Inputs
-
Nearly all video components today, such as Blu-ray players, cable boxes and video game consoles, use HDMI ports. According to the staff at Digital Trends, any HDTV you purchase should have at least three HDMI ports so you can connect every component you want to the television. Additional ports, such as legacy composite ports for old devices like VCRs, are also recommended.
-
Finish
-
HDTV screens either have matte or glossy finishes. According to "PC Magazine's" Robert Heron, HDTVs with matte finishes reduce glare from light sources, but glossy surfaces can have brighter pictures with higher contrast ratios. Choosing which is right for you is typically a matter of personal preference.
