1947 Kaiser Car Information

Henry J. Kaiser and Joseph W. Frazer founded the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation, which introduced its first car in the 1947 model year: the Kaiser Special K100. It was priced at $1,958. The Kaiser Custom K101 series was a higher-level-trim model.

  1. Technical Information

    • The 1947 Kaiser featured an in-line six-cylinder, L-Head 226.2-cubic-inch Kaiser Continental engine. The motor's bore and stroke was 3.31 inches by 4.37 inches. It produced 100 horsepower with 180 pound-feet of torque. The transmission used a manual, three-speed gear box. The car had self-centering Bendix Duo drum-brakes.

    Interior

    • The 1947 Kaiser had ample, low-slung seats fully upholstered in durable broadcloth. Matching cloth trim ran along the tops of the doors and covered the door handles that doubled as armrests. The car featured a leather-trimmed dashboard with a built-in clock, ashtrays and robe holder.

    Colors

    • The Kaiser's interior colors were coordinated to harmonize with the car's exterior paint scheme. The available 1947 colors included Linden Green, Hickory Brown Metallic, Coral Sand, Clay Pipe Gray, Onyx and Horizon Blue. The cars came with white sidewall tires.
