LG Home Theater DVD Problems
Certain LG home theater systems add an integrated DVD or Blu-ray player to streamline the setup and viewing process. Though these systems are designed to perform well over a long period of time, like any home electronics products they are not immune to glitches or larger issues.

One feature of newer LG home theater systems, including the LHB535 and LHB975, is Internet connectivity for displaying streaming content, either through a LAN or wireless connection. This can lead to issues getting and staying connected to your home network, and in content loading too slowly or freezing up, though this may often be due to the settings and speed of the network itself, or the receiver's proximity to the router, if a wireless connection is used.

A Blu-ray player connected to a network will periodically install updates to its firmware, or operating software, while models without network capability can accomplish this through an update disc or by attaching a USB flash drive. Playback of certain discs, especially newer ones, can be affected if these updates are not made, which can happen if you click "Hide" when the update window appears or if you do not manually update.

Electronics reviewer CNet tested the LG LHT764 DVD home theater system and found it to have "barely acceptable sound quality," compared to comparatively-priced models of other brands, and found the touch wheel volume control on the front of the unit to be frustrating to operate. This model, and certain others including the Blu-ray LHT854 also lack HDMI inputs, which means other components must be connected directly to the TV and then have the audio routed back to the receiver.
