59 Ford Fairlane Information

The 1959 Fairlane took its name from Henry Ford's Fair Lane mansion in Dearborn, MI. It featured six different body styles, including a two-door Club sedan and Club Victoria. The four-door models were the Town sedan and the Town Victoria. The 1959 model year production included the Fairlane 500 Skyliner and Sunliner convertibles.

  1. Technical Information

    • The 1959 Fairlanes featured an in-line 223.5-cubic-inch six-cylinder engine or a 220 horsepower 291.3-cubic-inch V8. The standard straight-six motor produced 145 horsepower at 4,000 rpm with 206 pound-feet of torque. The car had a three-speed gearbox with a single-plate, dry-disc clutch. On the front was an independent ball-joint suspension with coil-springs. The rear end had longitudinal leaf-springs.

    Appearance

    • The 1959 Ford Fairlane featured squared-up contours and a "Flying V" back panel. It had a wrap-around windshield and gull-wing brows over the quad head lights. 1959 Fairlanes were available with Galaxie-trim and Thunderbird-style wide-quarter roof lines. The cars often featured two-toned "Diamond Lustre" enamel paint-jobs separated by a chrome strip running the length of the body.

    Pricing and Production

    • The total combined series output for 1959 Ford Fairlanes was 176,800 units. Original prices ran from $2,357 for a six-cylinder Fairlane base model to over $2,700 for a Fairlane Town Victoria.
