Advanced Training for the Job Corps
The Job Corps advanced training program focuses the on a collaboration with Transportation Communications International Union (TCU/IAM). The program emphasizes transportation, computing, business and consumer mathematics, office communications, and job-seeking skills.

How to Qualify

There are a number of requirements to take the Job Corps advanced training. To qualify for Job Corps advanced training you must be at least 17 1/2 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and be enrolled in Job Corps. You must have scored a 570 reading and a 531 in math computation on the TABE Test-D level, be recommended by the staff at a Job Corps center, and be willing to take business, office and transportation courses daily.
Work Requirements

A willingness to relocate is key to success in the advanced training program. The Job Corps TCU/IAM program requires that you agree to the possibility of relocating for a job for which assistance will be provided. Also, you will be asked to agree to work various shifts once you are employed and that have a valid driver's license by the time your employment begins.

Placement

There is a wide range of job possibilities once the advanced program is completed. Once you have completed the program, a variety of transportation/clerical jobs are possible, including railway and airline ticket agent, flight and train service attendant, conductor trainee, ramp agent, and other positions. Additionally, you might be placed in word processing, data entry or other office positions with government agencies, financial or communication companies.
