What Is a Rose Gold Chain?

Rose gold is sometimes called red gold, pink gold or Russian gold. Rose gold is a common material for making jewelry with, especially vintage or antique jewelry, such as chains. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Significance

    • Even though gold is a metal, it is a very soft material. It is too soft to use in intricate jewelry like chains, so it is usually mixed with other metals to create a stronger material, and the remaining level of gold is referred to in karats, a unit of measurement.

    Method

    • When gold is mixed with copper, it has a pinkish tinge. The higher the amount of copper in the mixture, the more pink or red the gold is. For example, rose gold is a 25 percent copper and 75 percent gold combination, while red gold is a mix of half copper and half gold.

    Warning

    • There are other types of gold, including green, black, purple, blue and gray gold. Avoid green gold, because the toxic heavy metal cadmium is what gives green gold its color.
