Minnesota's Law on TV Satellite Dishes
Satellite dishes in Minnesota are regulated by laws. The laws include satellite dish rights, installation, maintenance and signals. The state laws are written in order to stay within federal regulations.

FCC

The Federal Communications Commission sets federal guidelines for satellite dishes. The federal guidelines say that everyone should be entitled to install a satellite dish and receive the signal. The FCC regulations also require the cost of installation and the signal are reasonable.
State Law

Minnesota state satellite laws do not conflict with the FCC regulations on satellite dish laws. The laws are contained in Minnesota state statute 238, Cable Communications. The laws address zoning, guard against unfair practices, installation and insurance as well as many other issues.

Considerations

The FCC requires that if a person believes he has received unfair treatment, he must prove it. Unfair treatment may include being denied access or being overcharged for a satellite dish or services.
