How do I Arrange a Presidential Birthday Greeting? thumbnail
Arrange a presidential greeting for anyone aged over 80.

The White House Greetings Office handles the requests for presidential greetings from U.S. citizens. Greetings are given for a variety of reasons, from births to anniversaries to Boy Scout and Girl Scout accomplishments, and, of course, birthdays. However, policy dictates that presidental birthday greetings can only be given to those 80 years old or older. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. When to Apply

    • You must apply for the presidential greeting at least six weeks in advance.

    Required Information

    • Your application must include specific information about you and the person for whom you are requesting the greeting. You need to include the name and home address of the person receiving the birthday greetings, their title (e.g. Mr., Mrs., Dr.), the exact date of their birthday and their age. You should also include your own name and daytime telephone number.

    Application Process

    • Your local senator, congressman or woman can forward your application to the White House. Contact their office to check how they prefer to receive your application. The White House dispatches greetings approximately 10 days before the event.
