Are There Any Emergency Roadside Assistance Clubs That Give the Disabled a Discount?

Emergency roadside assistance clubs provide a number of important services for drivers. If you have a flat tire, a dead battery or keys locked in your car, a trained service member will come to your rescue. Disabled drivers may benefit particularly from these services. Certain disabilities make it difficult or impossible to perform tasks like tire changing.

Discounts

As of 2010, inquiries with the five major national roadside assistance clubs reveal that none offer membership discounts for disabled drivers. To join and maintain membership with a roadside assistance club, disabled drivers pay the same price for services as non-disabled drivers.

Options

While national roadside assistance clubs don't offer discounts to disabled drivers, specialized companies provide some options. Palm RV, a Florida-based RV dealership that modifies motor homes to suit disabled drivers, is an example. The company covers its vehicles with free roadside assistance for the first year of ownership through a nationwide dealer network.

Considerations

For discounts and specialty vehicle services, disabled drivers should consider looking outside the major roadside assistance programs. Some small companies that work closely with disabled drivers, like Palm RV, may offer discounts, but perhaps more importantly they offer expertise and understanding unique to the disabled driver's experience.
