Try natural ways to encourage spiders to leave your home.

Spiders are efficient killers. Luckily for their human counterparts, these insects excel at killing other insects. If you have an infestation of spiders, this could indicate a larger pest problem. If spiders are an unwelcome addition to your home, it is easy to drive them away with some natural repellents. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Natural Food Repellents

    • Osage orange trees produce a fruit called hedgeapples. Hedgeapples make for an effective spider repellent when placed in spider infested areas of the home.

Fresh shelled chestnuts can be placed at entry points of the home, or suspected spider entry points, to repel them from the exterior.

    Herbal Spider Repellents

    • The common herb pennyroyal also makes for an effective spider repellent. Pennyroyal should be placed in spider infested areas and will encourage these insects to find a new residence.

    Other Plant Repellents

    • The wood of a cedar tree is also an unattractive odor to spiders. Cedar chips can be purchased and placed in spider infested areas to drive away these eight-legged insects.
