According to the website, there are many different functions to the Tupperware product. Everything from stackable containers to water bottles can be purchased from a consultant.
History

Tupperware was invented in 1942 by Earl Tupper. He saw the use for the plastic, and started what became known as "Tupperware Parties" to sell his products. He sold his company in 1958 for approximately $16 million.

According to the company's website, the bestselling products are bowl sets of varying sizes, microwavable vegetable steamers, cereal storage containers and quick shake makers. Their classic shape toy -- a blue and red shape sorter that challenges toddlers to place bright yellow shapes into the correct spots -- is also popular.

The corporation also publicizes its community service. One such program is called The Tupperware Brands Fund. This fund levels the playing field for all women and girls, providing them with the tools to succeed in life. They also work heavily with the Boys and Girls clubs of America. There are also several programs in Australia, Mexico, Uruguay, Canada, France, India and South Africa, all geared towards helping women and girls.
Plastic

There has been some discussion as to whether the material used in the plastic is harmful. Polycarbonate is a high-strength plastic made from a monomer known as BPA or bisphenol-A. The manufacturer's site acknowledges that it is used in some of the products, but that it is never used in anything intended for use by children.
