How to Fix a Kenmore Elite Oasis With an Error F51

Meredith Jameson

The Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine comes with several features, such as a suspension system, stain treatment option, force filter wash system, quiet motor, automatic temperature control, dispensers and water level, and an electronic control panel.

If issues arise with the washing machine, an error code may appear on the display, such as code “F51.” This code indicates that there's a problem with the motor movement sensor. While this error code may require professional repair, there are some troubleshooting steps that may fix it if the cause is minor.

  1. Turn off and unplug the Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine.

  2. Remove items from inside the washing machine and spin the basket with your hand. If the basket doesn't spin easily, examine the space between the inner and outer tub for small items that may be causing an obstruction and clear as necessary.

  3. Look for items that may be blocking the pump drain and remove them.

  4. Refill the washer with a moderate load size, as an overloaded washer may cause the motor to overheat and result in the error code.

  5. Restore power and select a new wash cycle. If the error code persists, turn off and unplug the washing machine before contacting Kenmore for assistance.
