When to Pick Sweet 100 Tomatoes

Sweet 100 tomato plants produce small, 1-inch red tomatoes. Sweet 100 tomatoes are indeterminate vine plants that will keep producing fruit until the first frost.

Maturity

Sweet 100 tomato plants are mature 70 days after planting. At this time, the fruit's color turns from green to red. If the tomato vine is planted on May 31 the fruit will be ready to pick around August 9.

Picking

Crops can be picked when the fruit starts to turn red, but is still slightly green. Slightly green fruit can be placed in a sunny window to continue ripening. When temperatures soar above 90 degrees Fahrenheit for more than a few days in a row, pick the fruit when it is just starting to turn red so that the fruit can ripen in a window indoors and retain its firmness. High temperatures for long periods can cause the Sweet 100 fruit to turn soft.

Vine Ripen

Leaving the Sweet 100 fruit on the vine until it is a fully red and firm ensures that the taste is fully developed. When temperatures are about 75 degrees Fahrenheit, the fruit will ripen on the vine without losing the firmness.

More Fruit

As you continue to remove ripened fruit, the Sweet 100 will continue to bear more fruit, which can be picked when slightly green changing to red or when the fruit is completely red. However, all fruit must be picked before a frost and ripened indoors.
