Gyms are full of various types of equipment, designed to help people reach their personal fitness goals. Working out in a gym requires people to take caution when using equipment. Gym staff are available to provide instruction on how to use equipment safely.

  1. Cardio Machines

    • Cardio machines, such as treadmills, stair climbers, elliptical machines and stationary bikes, are types of equipment that allow users to build their cardiovascular endurance. Many gym-goers use cardio machines to burn calories and fat.

    Weights

    • Gyms contain various types of weights for people to lift if they wish to gain muscle mass. Weightlifters have their option of using weight machines or free weights. Free weights, such as dumbbells and barbells, are available in different sizes or pounds, so that weightlifters can find the weights that are right for them. Weight machines also can be set to a determined weight.

    Extras

    • Extra equipment found in gyms include ropes, stackable stepping boards, boxing bags, floor mats and medicine balls. With permission, gym-goers have such equipment available to them, which they may use in the designated areas of the club.
