E-ZPass allows for simple toll road payment, without waiting in a long line to pay cash.

EZ Pass, branded E-ZPass, is an electronic toll collection system used in states throughout the Northeast and Midwest sections of the United States. The transponder that records the transactions is most often used for toll roads, such as the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but can also be used for parking at airports, such as John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

  1. States

    • E-ZPass can be used 14 states. These are Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

    State of Purchase

    • Your E-ZPass transponder and account can be used in all of the currently participating states. It does not matter which state your account was activated in, or which state you ordered your transponder from.

    Agencies

    • Twenty-four agencies throughout the 14 participating states accept the E-ZPass. There may be parking facilities or certain toll roads found in some of the participating states that do not accept your transponder.

    Discounts

    • If you pass through certain toll areas more than others, you may be eligible for discount commuter plans. Many of these plans have minimum usage per month to qualify, but some discounts may be automatically applied if you use your E-ZPass at the specified locations. These plans and discounts vary by the state in which you enroll your E-ZPass.
