How to Compare DSL High Speed to Satellite
With the advent of the Internet, demands for faster and better connections increase. With increased demand comes increased supply. DSL and satellite Internet are viable options for Internet access. Though both do the same thing, each has its own pros and cons.
-
DSL High Speed
-
Digital subscriber lines offer an affordable option for quick, reliable Internet service in the areas where it's available. DSL cables must be routed through telephone lines, so it is often a service subscribed to through local phone providers. It works by transferring data through the existing phone lines without tying up your telephone.
Satellite
-
Satellite Internet can offer uninterrupted connections that won't interfere with your phone or TV. The data is transferred via satellites, so location is not a deterring factor. It can be received anywhere, no matter how rural. You can subscribe to the satellite service by the same companies that offer satellite TV.

Comparison
-
The speed of DSL service depends on how close you are to the facility providing service. Satellite Internet has a steady, unvarying speed regardless of proximity. Though satellite service is the more expensive than DSL, it may be the only option if you live in an area far from phone wires, or in an area where DSL lines have not yet been routed. Satellite can handle bigger data transfers which allow faster uploads and downloads. However, most users don't need any more speed than what DSL offers.
