Information on Window Size in Google Maps

Google Maps is a powerful application that allows maps to be embedded directly into a website. Once a location is chosen within Google Maps, the "Link" button in the upper right corner will reveal another link to adjust window size.

  1. Customize Map Size

    • The "Customize and Preview Embedded Map" link will open a map customization dialog box. The first option allows for a small, medium, large or custom map size to be chosen. The map size can be adjusted to a specific width and height by choosing the "Custom" option and manually entering the desired size.

    Preview Map Size

    • The second option in the dialog box is a preview. When clicking "Small" in the first section, a preview of the "Small" size is shown, in this case, 300 by 300 pixels. The preview size gets larger with each option chosen.

    HyperText Markup Language

    • The last item in the dialog box is the HyperText Markup Language, or HTML, that can be copied from this box and pasted into a website. Whichever window size that was originally chosen will be noted in this section. When the website is published with this added HTML code, the map will show on the page.
