Why Does Outlook 2007 Convert My Email to Times New Roman No Matter What Font I Use?
Microsoft Outlook is an email program with advanced features such as allowing HyperText Markup Language to be created and received within the program. Allowing HTML enables Outlook to deliver and receive richly formatted text.
-
Outlook Options
-
Inside "Tools," "Options," "Mail Format" there is an option to change email format from HTML, Rich Text Format (RTF) or plain text. With HTML or RTF as chosen options, fonts will remain as the sender intended. With the plain-text option, fonts are consistent and plain typically showing in Times New Roman or Courier. Plain text shows without color, sizing options, bold or italics.
Benefits
-
Using plain fonts ensures that the recipient will see the email even if his computer is not the most powerful or up to date. Also, plain fonts keep message sizes smaller because they use less disk space. All email applications support plain text.
-
Warning
-
Fonts that show in a list from Microsoft Outlook are not necessarily the same fonts that show on a recipient's list. For example, one computer may have the "Candara" font, another may not. Because of this, if an email is formatted in HTML and has "Candara" font selected, the recipient may receive the email in a plain font.
