Strapping tape is a high strength adhesive tape that comes in a varieties of grades and strengths. Strapping tape is sometimes called filament tape as it is made from an adhesive that is strengthened by filaments. Filaments make the tensile strength of the tape much stronger than ordinary adhesive tape. The filaments are made from fibreglass, cotton or synthetics and are embedded into the tape.

Strapping tape is used for sealing shipping consignments, bundling, repairing and packaging goods. Strapping tape can also be used as an adhesive bandage when dealing with sports injuries. It is important to note that strapping tape used for medical applications is made differently (usually zinc oxide) from the strapping tape used for sealing packages. It can also be made from steel, plastic and other composites for industrial use.
