The Department of Veterans Affairs utilizes a medical records system, known as the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (Vista). Vista contains personal health information of all individuals who are treated at VA health care facilities.

In order to register for My HealtheVet, individuals must watch a brief orientation video, sign a release form and present photo identification at their VA health facility.
