Bridge Training for Immigration Services Officers (ISO)
For employment purposes, "bridge training" refers to teaching additional skills to partially qualified job applicants or employees to provide a "bridge" to a new position. United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) may sometimes offer bridge training for immigration services officers (ISOs).

Immigration Services Officer
-
Immigration services officers perform several duties in the process of denying or granting petitions and applications for immigration. New recruits go through seven weeks of training at two different locations.
Available Positions
-
When positions as ISOs become available, USCIS posts them on USAjobs for a specific length of time. Job postings describe the specific bridge training requirements, but disappear when the posting expires.

Types of Bridge Training
-
Bridge training could include instructions to help an employee adapt to a new work environment. It could range from special training for a handicapped person to safety or security training for a dangerous environment.
USCIS Bridge Training
-
As the needs of USCIS vary, so do the parameters of the bridge training. For example, an ISO assigned to Iraq would receive different bridge training than one assigned in the U.S. or Canada. The USCIS does not publish exact descriptions of bridge training procedures.
