The Republic of Cuba is an archipelago that is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The country offers 3735 km of blue coastline and offers some of the world's finest beaches. Cuba is known to be the most populous island nation in the Caribbean with people, culture and customs from diverse sources.

  1. Havana and Pinar del Rio Areas

    • Havana is the largest city in the Caribbean and is known for its nightlife. Moreover, this old town also finds a place in the UNESCO's World Heritage List. Pinar del Rio is known for its diverse countryside and lush vegetation. It is also known for its caves that are abundant with stalactites, stalagmites and underground rivers. The old town of Pinar del Rio is home to many cigar factories that are open to the public for visiting.

    Area of Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba

    • Trinidad city is built around the harbor and boasts of some intricate architecture from its French settlers. The historic city is only a few square blocks with cobblestone streets, pastel-colored houses and wrought-iron grills. Santiago de Cuba is popularly known for its churches and museums. The local citadel of San Pedro de la Roca is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as "the most complete, best-preserved example of Spanish-American military architecture, based on Italian and Renaissance design principles."

    Food and Dining in Cuba

    • Surprisingly, local fish and seafood are rarely menu toppers in Cuba. This rich-marine establishment exports most of its seafood. The cuisine here is a mix of Spanish and Afro-Caribbean delicacies. Rice, chicken, pork, beans, herbs and spices are commonly used in the dishes. The Cuban coffee and beer are a must try when in Cuba.

    Nightlife in Cuba

    • Cuba is renowned and popularly known for its nightlife. Most bars have a house band playing Cuban music. Various bars also host Salsa dancing lessons. Opera, ballet and theater are staged throughout the year in Havana.

    Shopping in Cuba

    • Cuba is known for its cigars. There are some luxury shops that sell antiques. Buy cigars only from reputed shops in hotels or factories. This is because street vendors are known to sell fakes or factory rejects which may get confiscated at the airport.

    Cuba Weather

    • Cuba experiences a subtropical climate throughout the year. This means it is hot all year-round with rains between May and October. Between June to November, hurricanes may occur. The humidity varies between 75 percent and 95 percent. The cooler months are between January to April. Summery and lightweight clothes are recommended throughout the year.
