Bobcat Safety Training

Several training providers offer safety training courses designed for Bobcat vehicles and construction equipment. Coursework concerns the safe operation of their loaders, excavators, telescopic tool carriers and utility work machines.

  1. Scope

    • The courses that comprise the Bobcat Company's safety programs include skid-steer loader and compact excavator training courses. Other companies also offer training programs, such as OSHA-accredited programs and programs that satisfy OSHA standard 1910.178(l)(4) for Bobcat operators. This program's curricula include 70 key principles every Bobcat operator should know, understanding the hydrostatic transmission, maintenance, fundamentals of safe maneuvering and safe service.

    Formats

    • Several companies offer training courses in online, on-site and DVD-based formats. On-site programs can be designed to fit up to 15 participants and can be provided in all 50 U.S. states.

    Cost

    • Program fees vary with a program's comprehensiveness and content. For instance, as of November 2011, a group on-site skid-steer operator safety course cost between $75 and $185 per person, depending on the number of participants. Other programs, such as the compact excavator service safety course from the Bobcat Company, cost $20 and $120, depending on the quantity ordered.
