Information Technology for British Airways

British Airways was established on Aug. 25, 1919, and started the world's first international scheduled air service between London and Paris. British Airways uses information technology (IT) provided by Amadeus North America through its website.

Amadeus

British Airways began an agreement with Amadeus North America in 2000, allowing Amadeus to provide information technology services for many aspects of British Airways' business. This agreement was extended in 2007 for the following 10 years. Amadeus specializes in providing technology for providers, sellers and buyers of travel services, according to Amadeus.

Services

Amadeus is responsible for providing IT services for the passenger services of British Airways, including reservation services, through its sales outlets and e-ticketing options. Amadeus also handles the IT solutions for managing the airline's global inventory.

Check-In

By 2012, the airline is expected to introduce the Amadeus Altea Departure Control system for passenger check-in and managing flight departures. The departure system will include customer management during the check-in and departure phases of a journey.
