-
Recycle Paper
-
An easy Christmas tree decoration is made with used holiday cards or wrapping paper scraps and cookie cutters. Trace around the cookie cutters on the card or paper, and cut out with scissors. To create a bit of sparkle, add a little glue and glitter; when dry, string with recycled ribbon or yarn for hanging.
Raid the Pantry
-
Your kitchen pantry holds items that also can easily be used to make Christmas tree decorations. String popcorn and cranberries to make traditional garlands. Make fragrant pomanders by pressing whole cloves into oranges and then hang with a decorative ribbon. Whole walnuts can also be painted and hung with yarn.
-
Collect from Nature
-
Gather pine cones, seed pods and dried vines from your backyard. Pine cones and seed pods can be spray-painted gold or silver for a dramatic effect or simply left plain and hung with a recycled bow. Grapevines can be soaked to make flexible and then fashioned into small wreaths for hanging.
